• Handel/Halvorsen, Passacaglia
Here's a real gem from 1975 (1974?). Neil Weintrob
(violin) and Channing Robbins (cello) playing George
Friedrich Handel, Passacaglia from Suite #7 in G
Minor, arranged for Violin and Viola/Cello by Johan
Halvorsen, 1894.
[MP3]
The performance was part of a faculty recital in 1975.
(recording: simple portable cassette player with a hand held
microphone from seat in audience)
• Robert Schuman, Abegg Variations (op. 1)
Willian Dawson (piano)
[MP3]
Faculty recital, 1975. Mr. Dawson spoke before he played,
explaining that the dedication and name of the piece
»Abegg« are fictional. Just before starting, he
spoke again, having (as I recall) tried to readjust the
piano stool by turning a non-functional, stationary knob,
which got a good laugh. These two parts of the recording
have been highly amplified. On the cassette they were barely
audible. (recording: simple portable cassette player with a
hand held microphone from seat in audience, slightly
filtered)
• ???????, ??????? (HELP PLEASE!)
Mystery music from 1975. Most probably a faculty recital
with Mr. Gilbert?? (flute), Walter Engel???? (viola), Bruce
Potterton??/Bill Dawson??? (piano)
[MP3]
(recording: simple portable cassette player with a hand held
microphone from seat in audience, incomplete)
